Let's revisit the 90s and throw a boombox over our shoulder and head to the park. We'll grab our guitars and provide some needed acoustics and sing, as straight-faced as we possibly can and just start jamming. Toronto's Still Life Still takes elements of youthful electronic beats and sets them to songs they made up, most likely out of afternoons filled with Big Gulps and skateboards. But it's more polished and precise than all the bands like them- tucked away inside bedrooms and garages. It's pop thats pulsating and sweet, the kind that's not too decadent, just perfectly catchy. Anyone lucky enough to catch their set in Bellwoods on this day was likely intrigued by the impromptu party, because really- anytime the boombox comes out, it's a natural reaction.
