Winter ends. Leases expire. Salt-stained shoes dry out. It's the natural order of things. But before Bellwoods bakes in the summer sun, there's always that transition period where four part harmonies sound the best dancing in and out of the budding trees. So Michou dressed for the occasion -- caps and jackets boys, caps and jackets -- and headed to Bellwoods. Their pop sensibilities stuck out like albino squirrels, despite the boys straying from the usual stage arrangements towards simple harmonies and acoustic strums. The Windsor-natives filled the pavilion with sing-a-long love songs and "ah-woooooooooooooh" -- even paying homage to Tom Petty with a cover of "The Waiting". Bellwoods played its role with dancing dogs and bird chatters. "Celebrate Love" -- the quartet's opener -- took stock of all the times that pit in your stomach seemed filled to the brim with someone else's promise (the worst kind). The song built, the four voices battling for sonic real estate until the end -- soliciting cheers from a nearby park patron. "Homewrecker" paints a picture of that she-demon who finds a way to slip in and make things so damn confusing. There may not have been choreographed dancing, feathers and paint or suitcases filled with knives -- but the dogs seemed to dig the simplicity of a few jams in the park; a friendly "welcome" to spring.
